Brighton Pier and their Penny Pushing Arcade

by admin on Nov.04, 2009, under Uncategorized

Each year as money is worth less and less why does Brighton pier still have a penny pushing arcade game? Surely penny will soon be worthless as the currency cannot be spent anywhere, you will probably need a bucket full of pennies to buy a pint of milk.

Does Google Follow JaveScript Links?

by admin on Aug.14, 2009, under Uncategorized

The big G has decieded to crawl JavaScript links now which is means that loads more pages will be indexed as a result. Im not totally convinced that this is a good idea as this could mean that many sites will face duplicate content issues.

I have created a page with such a link to see if it gets indexed, fingers crossed.

Barcelona, Be Ready

Barcelona

Barcelona

Last week I booked the first week of June off from work but I didn’t know what I was going to do on my week off. Having asked a few people what they would do with a week off the topic of traveling came up a lot. With the idea of looking for a cheap getaway I decided to check out the prices on Ryan air and found a return flight for £15!!! That was it i knew that I would be going to Barcelona.

The scary thing was is that I have never been on a holiday on my own, I’ve been told that the best holidays on your own are where you stay at hostels. That way you instantly meet like minded people/cool/interesting people. It was then that I was referred to Hostel World as they have many hostels in their database with reviews. Despite the great reviews I still had crazy butterflies in my stomach whilst making my booking.

Some initial research into backpack traveling shows that the amount of fun one has is directly relational to the amount of stuff you need to carry. That is why im only going to travel with a backpack which I do not need to check in at the airport, I also hate waiting at the baggage reclaim belt. I still need to buy a backpack, but I already have some earplugs and a travel towel.

I still do not know what Im going to do when I get there, thats the beauty of this sponateous trip. Once Im back I will be sure to post some cool pics

New Fishing Licences

by admin on May.10, 2009, under Fishing

Last week my fishing licence expired and I received a renewal pack detailing information on all the fishing lakes in the south east. I seriously did not know there were so many lakes near where I live.

The fishing licences are now in the form of a credit card, this means there is no excuse to leave it at home or lose it.

I will be getting my new licence soon, already for another season of fishing.

My Power Kite

by admin on May.10, 2009, under Makes Me Happy

Last week i won a bid on a 2.5m sports power kite for £20, happy days :)

Power kite

Yesterday I took it out on it’s maiden flight at Southgate playing field. Wish it were more windy, when there was a strong gust you could feel the pull of kite, when there was little to no wind it was a very different story. It was dead easy to get the kite to take off, there was no running involved, just lift and it takes off by itself.

Anyway the kite was loads of fun to use, cant wait to take it out on a really windy day.

I Now rank for my name

by admin on Apr.28, 2009, under Could do With Less of, Makes Me Happy, Uncategorized

The other day I read a blog post detailing that ego surfing is ever increasing and users are frequently disappointed with the search results and more commonly that they do not appear on the first page of google.

Google already knows that there is a large number of surfers searching for name specific queries. Google has now released a new feature enabling users to create their own google profile which will rank in the search results. Unfortunately profiles are only being pulled into the .com version of google, and you will also need to be signed into your google account before you will see profiles ranking.

Even though I have created my own profile to see this first hand I am not convinced that it is totally secure to have personal details being available via a google search. You can enter as much or as little as you wish, but I still think that all of this public information may lead to a few identity fraud cases.

This is definatelly a step closer towards the dark side for Google.

Google Analytics for the iPhone

by admin on Apr.21, 2009, under Makes Me Happy, Uncategorized

Through my job you might say that I am very much into search engine analysis (seo) and tools. Today was good day, I have discovered Analytics App for the iPhone. It basically allows you to view data from your google analytics account on your mobile phone. As if I didn’t use my phone enough! Obviously it does not have all of the features that the web based interface has, but it is very useful.

One amazing feature it boasts is that you can view data from the same day! I’m still not sure at present on what delay the is on viewing live data, but I will probably make a post when I find out.

There is a wasp making a nest in my room

by admin on Apr.19, 2009, under Could do With Less of

Wasp

Last Wednesday I woke up with a wasp in my bedroom, how did it get it without me knowing? I needed to get to work and let the wasp in my room.

The wasp was gone by the time I got back from work, but decides to visit me(piss me off)  each day.  On Saturday while on the hunt for the was again I tracked down the source of the buzzing I found a one bedroom nest in the corner of my room.

So far this week I have had to trap the wasp 3 times and each time it comes back, I’m assuming that is’s the same one and for some reason it has taken a liking to my bedroom.

Each day I have needed to do a wasp check before going to sleep, bees are not too bad as they will only sting in self defence and I have no intention to hurt it. Wasps on the other hand will sting people just for fun.

If any one knows how I can prevent the wasp from coming back please let me know.

James’ Boat for Summer

by admin on Apr.15, 2009, under Fishing, Makes Me Happy

A while ago my mate James put a bid in EBay for a boat and won! It needs some attention to make sure she’s sea worth by the summer.

Last weekend we were applying fibreglass patches to cover the joins and nails in the boats hull. Next weekend we will be applying the last patches and will give her a good sanding the week after (weather permitting). Then we will be painting her before the maiden voyage.

Poker Night at Robo’s

Dogs round a table playing poker

Dogs round a table playing poker

Last night was poker night round a mates house. There was slot of money up foe grabs but unfortunately I did not take any of the winnings home.
Poker is great fun to play, especially with friends as they can sometimes be easier to read, which is why I was able to win with a pair of two’s. As they say you have to play the person infront of you and not your cards.
For a decent game you need about 5-7 players max, lastnight there were 13 people playing, it worked out quite unlucky for me. The house seemed to clean most people out of their money, buts that’s ok they hosted the night.

Me and my brother shared a bottle of Morgan spiced rum, didn’t think it could be drunk straight, but with ice it was very nice to drink. Normally there is never enough coke to go round, last night I think there was still some left over.

Can’t wait till I have my own place and I can host a poker night.
